La. Lawmakers Push DOI To Reopen Gulf To Drilling

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 2:09 PM EDT) -- The Louisiana Legislature has passed a resolution urging Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to reconsider the U.S.' six-month moratorium on oil and gas exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, which it claims will only further deplete the local economy.

Louisiana's fishery and tourism industries have already been hammered by the growing oil spill pouring from the BP PLC well 50 miles offshore, the lawmakers say.
