DOJ Requires Divestiture For Amcor's $2B Alcan Buy

Law360, New York (June 10, 2010, 7:34 PM EDT) -- Amcor Ltd. reached an agreement Thursday with the U.S. Department of Justice that forces the company to divest a North Carolina medical packaging plant in order to complete a part of its $2.03 billion acquisition of Rio Tinto Group's Alcan Packaging.

The DOJ's Antitrust Division filed a lawsuit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia to block Amcor's proposed acquisition of Alcan Packaging Medical Flexibles, but simultaneously filed a proposed settlement requiring the company to sell off a medical packaging plant in...
