9th Circ. Reinstates $6M Lloyd's Payout To Doctor

Law360, New York (June 11, 2010, 1:46 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has ruled that a district court wrongly vacated an arbitration panel’s decision to award a Nevada cardiologist $6 million for Lloyd’s of London underwriters' refusal to honor the doctor’s disability policy.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit returned the $6 million award to Dr. Zev Lagstein on Thursday, faulting the lower court for failing to justify its decision to annul the arbitration award beyond its belief that the award was excessive.
