House Bill Would Fortify Food Safety In Schools

Law360, New York (June 11, 2010, 1:15 PM EDT) -- U.S. House of Representatives lawmakers have introduced legislation that aims to strengthen food safety requirements and recall procedures in schools, the latest move in a broad overhaul of national nutrition and safety standards geared toward protecting children.

H.R. 5504, the Improving Nutrition for America's Children Act of 2010, was unveiled Thursday by a bipartisan group of House members including House Education and Labor Committee chairman George Miller, D-Calif.; healthy families and communities subcommittee chair Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y.; and ranking member Todd Russell Platts, R-Pa.
