Uranium Bill May Hurt Domestic Industry: DOE

Law360, New York (June 15, 2010, 5:39 PM EDT) -- A bill aimed at unloading the U.S. Department of Energy's uranium stockpile to build nuclear reactors could harm competition in the domestic uranium market, a DOE official told a Senate panel Tuesday.

R. Shane Johnson, chief operating officer for nuclear energy at the DOE, expressed reservations about the Surplus Uranium Disposition Act at a hearing before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resource's energy subcommittee.
