Dems Blast BP Rig Shortcuts, Call For $20B Spill Fund

Law360, New York (June 14, 2010, 8:01 PM EDT) -- Democratic lawmakers sent BP PLC head Tony Hayward two prickly letters Monday, one calling for the oil giant to establish a $20 billion fund to compensate victims of the Gulf of Mexico spill and pay for cleanup efforts, and the other detailing the company’s sacrifices of safety for profit prior to the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion.
