SEC, Canadians Pen Agreement To Watch Markets

Law360, New York (June 14, 2010, 6:18 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Quebec Autorité des marchés financiers and the Ontario Securities Commission have penned an arrangement to facilitate supervision of regulated entities that operate across the U.S.-Canadian border — the first such deal for the SEC since the recession began.

The SEC said Monday that the memorandum of understanding provided a “clear mechanism for consultation, cooperation and exchange of information” among the SEC, AMF and OSC in the context of supervision.
