Shell, Iran Deal May Violate U.S. Sanctions

Law360, New York (January 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The United States government is planning to investigate a controversial agreement between Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Repsol of Spain and Iran for possible violations of U.S. sanctions against large investments in the Middle Eastern country.

The State Department announced Monday that it would “take a look at” the deal to see if it violates the Iran Libya Sanctions Act and the subsequent Iran Freedom Support Act.
