Dow Wins $62M In Resin Patent Suit Against Nova

Law360, New York (June 15, 2010, 7:05 PM EDT) -- A federal jury awarded The Dow Chemical Co. Inc. nearly $62 million on Tuesday in its suit accusing Nova Chemicals Corp. of infringing two patents related to polyethylene resins used in packaging.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware found that the defendant's polymers infringed two Dow patents and that Nova had not proven that the patents-in-suit were invalid.

It handed Dow about $61.77 million in damages — about $4.3 million in royalties and more than $57.4 million for lost profits....
