Jones Day Gives Pink Slips To Support Staffers

Law360, New York (June 16, 2010, 6:48 PM EDT) -- Jones Day has laid off approximately 30 support staff members in two of its offices in an effort to become more efficient.

On Wednesday, partner Joe Sims confirmed the layoffs, which were first reported in the ABA Journal. Roughly 30 secretarial workers and other legal support staffers in the firm's Los Angeles and Dallas offices were let go.

Sims told the ABA Journal that the layoffs were not performance- or economic-driven, but were done as an effort to be more effective.
