NC Dental Board Practices Anti-Competitive: FTC

Law360, New York (June 17, 2010, 7:57 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has accused the dental board in North Carolina of clamping down on competition by allowing only dentists to perform teeth-whitening services in the state.

The agency lodged an administrative complaint Thursday that the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners improperly barred nondentists from providing whitening services, making the services more difficult to obtain and more costly for consumers.
