Sierra Club Fights To Block Miss. Power Plant

Law360, New York (June 18, 2010, 1:45 PM EDT) -- The Sierra Club is trying to block Southern Co. subsidiary Mississippi Power Co. from building a coal-fired power plant that allegedly would saddle customers with $480 million in cost overruns.

The environmental group filed an appeal Thursday in the Mississippi Chancery Court in Harrison County, Miss., challenging a recent decision by the state's utilities regulator allowing construction of a plant in Kemper County, Miss., to go forward this summer.
