Prison Nurses Win $1M In Civil Rights Action

Law360, New York (January 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- A group of prison nurses, who sued the state of Florida claiming they were subject to obscene behavior from troubled inmates, has been awarded nearly $1 million by a jury.

The 12 nurses, who worked in the Washington Correctional Institution in Chipley, Florida won $990,000 in the verdict handed down Friday, more than six years after repeated complaints to the Department of Corrections fell on deaf ears.
