EU Cartel Fines Loom For Bathroom Fixture Cos.

Law360, New York (June 18, 2010, 2:18 PM EDT) -- The European Commission is reportedly set to fine several bathroom fixture manufacturers accused of price-fixing, though some of the companies will receive reduced penalties after pleading financial hardship due to the economic downturn.

After almost six years investigating an alleged cartel in the bathroom fixture industry, the European Union's antitrust regulator will announce the fines in late June, Reuters reported Friday, citing six people close to the investigation.

One person said the penalties would come Wednesday, the news agency reported.
