Insurer Seeks To Avoid Liability For Faulty Nissan Part

Law360, New York (June 21, 2010, 2:57 PM EDT) -- Sentry Insurance has launched a declaratory action seeking to escape claims that it owes MP International Inc. coverage in an underlying suit brought by a Nissan North America Inc. manufacturer over an allegedly faulty part that led to the recall of certain Ultimas and Maximas.

The insurance policies Wisconsin-based Sentry issued to MPI do not provide coverage for the claims raised in manufacturer Trelleborg YSH Inc.’s suit accusing MPI of providing defective inner plates for installation in Nissan vehicles, according to a suit Sentry filed Friday...
