Battle Over E.On-Endesa Merger Intensifies

Law360, New York (January 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission has stepped up its action against Spain’s energy regulator, demanding to know why the government agency has not yet responded to requests that it withdraw certain conditions it placed on the E.On-Endesa merger.

On Wednesday, the Commission sent a “letter of formal notice” to Spain, seeking an explanation for the government’s refusal to comply with the E.C.'s request that it rescind the restrictions on the E.On-Endesa merger.
