Russia To Probe Gazprom Units Over Antitrust Claims

Law360, New York (June 22, 2010, 6:08 PM EDT) -- Russia's antitrust watchdog decided to launch an investigation Tuesday into three OAO Gazprom subsidiaries' pricing practices based on a complaint from rival energy giant OAO Lukoil.

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service plans to probe claims that Gazprom's regional subsidiaries in Krasnodar, Astrahan and Stavropol have violated a Russian law prohibiting the abuse of dominant market position through their long-term gas contracts with several of Lukoil's own subsidiaries.
