Treasury To Reexamine Insurance Regulations

Law360, New York (February 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Bush Administration will soon reevaluate its regulations governing the insurance industry, according to U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson.

Paulson told the Senate Banking Committee that the Treasury Department would determine whether insurers should be allowed to choose to be regulated by the federal government instead of by individual states.

“Although we don't have a clear position yet on the optional federal charter, I personally think it's got a lot of merit and we're going to be thinking [about] this issue very carefully," Paulson said at...
