Mayer Brown, Simmons & Simmons End Merger Talks

Law360, New York (June 29, 2010, 5:18 PM EDT) -- After engaging in talks toward a possible tie-up, Mayer Brown LLP and Simmons & Simmons have opted not to pursue a merger, the firms said Tuesday.

The firms issued a joint statement confirming the initial talks but saying that they have decided against consummating any merger plans.

“Mayer Brown and Simmons & Simmons have held preliminary discussions regarding the potential for a merger. Mergers are complex and present a number of issues which need to be resolved before discussions can proceed,” the statement said.
