Avian Flu Vaccine Makers Exempt From Liability

Law360, New York (February 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Department of Health and Human Services has decided to extend protections against product liability lawsuits to makers of vaccines, drugs and other products designed to treat avian flu.

The federal Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday enacted the Public Readiness and Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Act of 2005, claiming that it will remove any possible obstacles to the quick manufacture and distribution of products to treat avian flu.
