House Panel Approves Trade Expansion With Cuba

Law360, New York (July 1, 2010, 4:31 PM EDT) -- In an effort to advance U.S. economic objectives, democracy and human rights, the House Agriculture Committee is pushing for the expansion of U.S. agricultural trade to Cuba.

The committee approved the Travel Restriction Reform and Export Enhancement Act, co-sponsored by 62 members of Congress, by a 25-20 vote Wednesday. The bill is still waiting for action in the House committees on Foreign Affairs and Financial Services.
