DOI Postpones Hearings On Outer Shelf Drilling

Law360, New York (July 1, 2010, 10:48 AM EDT) -- The BP PLC oil spill has put U.S. Department of the Interior plans to review the environmental impact of future drilling operations on the Outer Continental Shelf on hold.

DOI Secretary Ken Salazar announced Wednesday that public scoping meetings for the environmental impact statement for the 2012-2017 OCS Oil and Gas Leasing Program will be postponed until later in 2010, citing the need to proceed cautiously in the wake of the spill.
