Trade Review Leaves Most GSP Products Duty-Free

Law360, New York (July 1, 2010, 1:45 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration is revoking duty-free treatment for certain imports from Thailand, Brazil and India following the government's annual review of the Generalized System of Preferences program, which allows developing countries to ship some goods duty-free to the United States.

U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk announced the review's results Tuesday.

Certain types of gold necklaces imported from India, car tires from Thailand and wood flooring from Brazil are no longer eligible for the duty exemption because they are now sufficiently competitive in the United States....
