Tesoro, Seabulk To Pay Up Over Alaska Gas Spill

Law360, New York (July 2, 2010, 11:16 AM EDT) -- Tesoro Alaska Co. and Seabulk Tankers Inc. have agreed to shell out $429,000 to settle claims from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation over the grounding of the Seabulk Pride tanker in Cook Inlet in 2006 and the gasoline spill that ensued.

The agreement, announced by the Alaska Attorney General's Office on Thursday, resolves civil claims and alleged violations of Cook Inlet winter ice rules, thought neither company admitted wrongdoing and both contested the state's valuations of the monetary advantage they gained from the alleged noncompliance...
