ITC Ends Stool Patent Probe Into Amazon, Bed Bath

Law360, New York (July 6, 2010, 3:39 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has officially shut its investigation into the alleged infringement of a step stool design patent by Inc., Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. and other retailers after evidence surfaced that the patent may be invalid, according to an attorney for the respondents.

The commission published a Federal Register notice Friday saying it would not review an administrative law judge's order terminating the investigation based on complainant B&R Plastics Inc.'s withdrawal of its complaint in May.
