Russia Targets Steel, Coal Cos. In Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (July 8, 2010, 4:08 PM EDT) -- Russia's antitrust regulator has initiated an investigation into OAO Severstal and Evraz Group SA — the country's largest steel outfits — and coal producer OAO Raspadskaya over their practices in the market for coking coal.

The companies allegedly abused their dominant positions in the Russian and export markets, the Federal Antimonopoly Service said Thursday.

Economic, technological and other signs substantiate the establishment of different prices for contracts to supply coking coal to Russian and foreign consumers, according to the FAS.
