USGS Deploys New Carbon Capture Tools

Law360, New York (July 12, 2010, 4:19 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Geological Survey has unveiled a new method to gauge the nation's potential for underground carbon dioxide storage, in a development that Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar said could mitigate the impacts of global warming.

The USGS said Friday that it would use the updated methodology to assess the potential for carbon dioxide storage in rock formations, a process known as geologic carbon sequestration.
