Goldman Sachs Dismissed From Fannie Mae Suit

Law360, New York (February 6, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Investment bank Goldman, Sachs & Co. will no longer have to defend itself against allegations of aiding in the accounting fraud at mortgage lender Fannie Mae, after plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed the firm from a shareholder derivative lawsuit.

In a quarterly filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Goldman disclosed that it had been dropped from the derivative suit in November 2006. At the same time, the firm moved to dismiss a shareholder class action suit that made similar accusations.
