New US Sanctions On Iran

Law360, New York (July 12, 2010, 5:45 PM EDT) -- In June, a U.S. Congress conference committee agreed to legislation to strengthen Iran sanctions. The bill, entitled the Comprehensive Iran Sanctions, Accountability and Divestment Act of 2010 (H.R. 2194), was signed into law by the president on July 1, 2010.

The legislation will expand the scope of the Iran Sanctions Act (“ISA”) of 1996 to impose sanctions on non-U.S. companies that provide refined petroleum products and related services to Iran. The legislation also expands Iran-related export and re-export restrictions and imposes other new measures.
