Mass. Bill To Ease Approval Of Wind Farms Advances

Law360, New York (July 15, 2010, 2:39 PM EDT) -- The Massachusetts House of Representatives has approved a bill designed to make it easier for local communities to approve new wind energy projects.

According to the state Legislature's website, the House voted 101-52 on Wednesday in favor of the bill, the Wind Energy Siting Reform Act. The state Senate approved a different version of the bill in February, and legislators must now complete a compromise version.

Gov. Deval Patrick has signaled support for the bill in recent interviews.
