Tacoma Settles Clean Air Act Claims Over Landfill

Law360, New York (July 15, 2010, 12:38 PM EDT) -- The city of Tacoma, Wash., has agreed to shell out nearly $500,000 to settle a Clean Air Act suit brought by the U.S. government over alleged releases of regulated refrigerants into the environment at a municipal landfill.

The U.S. Department of Justice's Environment and Natural Resources Division lodged a complaint against the city Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and simultaneously filed a consent decree resolving the allegations.
