Senate Votes To Extend Discharge Permit Moratorium

Law360, New York (July 16, 2010, 3:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate has voted to extend until 2013 a moratorium barring the Environmental Protection Agency from requiring commercial and charter fishing vessels, along with all commercial vessels under 79 feet long, to obtain permits for discharges under the Clean Water Act.

S. 3372, co-sponsored by Sens. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, and Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, passed the chamber by unanimous consent Wednesday.
