McDermott Accused Of $143M Patent App Blunder

Law360, New York (July 20, 2010, 4:13 PM EDT) -- Nomir Medical Technologies Inc. has filed suit against McDermott Will & Emery LLP, claiming three attorneys at the firm missed patent filing deadlines and cost the medical device maker at least $143 million in lost profits.

The company said that a faulty docketing system caused the McDermott partners to drop the ball when it came to pursuing four Nomir patent applications, according to a complaint filed July 1 in the Superior Court of Massachusetts.
