RIM, Samsung Settle BlackBerry, BlackJack Suit

Law360 (February 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Research In Motion Ltd., maker of the ubiquitous BlackBerry smart-phone, has settled its lawsuit that alleged that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.'s BlackJack phone was too similar in name and form to its own BlackBerry and therefore infringed on the BlackBerry trademark.

“RIM is very pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial settlement agreement that includes immediate provisions for the protection of RIM's valuable trademarks,” the company said on Wednesday.
