ITC To Probe Samsung Semiconductors In Patent Case

Law360, New York (July 22, 2010, 2:53 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has agreed to investigate allegations brought by a nonprofit group affiliated with the University of New Mexico that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. have infringed a patent covering lithographic methods used to manufacture semiconductors.

The ITC said in a statement Wednesday it voted to investigate the claims made in a complaint filed in June by Albuquerque, N.M.-based STC.UNM, which the university formed in 1995 to protect its inventions.
