30 Pharma Cos. Sued In Turkey

Law360, New York (February 8, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The chief prosecutor in Istanbul, Turkey, has reportedly sued 30 pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer Inc., Roche Holding AG, Bayer AG and GlaxoSmithKline Plc., for overcharging public institutions for their drugs.

The lawsuit, filed Monday, accuses the companies of overcharging both the Social Security Authority and the Ministry of Health, and of engaging in “organized crime,” the Turkish Daily News reported.

“[The companies] participated in an unlawful organization formed with the aim of committing crime, abusing authority, forging official documents and lying in official documents,” the indictment...
