E.U. Trade Chief Calls For Global Energy Rules

Law360 (February 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European trade chief on Friday insisted on the need for strict, cross-national regulations to help stabilize the energy market and encourage the use of clean, green technology – areas he said now exist in an “international legal vacuum.”

Peter Mandelson, the trade commissioner, discussed the urgent need for energy security, in a world where Europe could soon be importing 70% of its energy, and a new global approach to climate change, which he said requires a 0% tariff deal, at a conference in Norway....
