Convicted Westar CEO Freed On Bond

Law360, New York (February 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The former chief executive of public utility Westar Energy Inc. has won his fight to be out of prison on bond while he appeals his two-year sentence for bank fraud.

David C. Wittig was resentenced Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas to two years in prison and a $1 million fine, a move that cut his former sentence in half but still exceeded what an appellate court had recommended.
