House Panel Aims To Boost Small-Scale Hydropower

Law360, New York (July 29, 2010, 2:04 PM EDT) -- A House Natural Resources Committee subpanel heard testimony Thursday from federal agencies and the private sector in its search for ways to promote smaller hydropower projects currently hampered by onerous regulations, development costs and environmental concerns.

The subcommittee on water and power convened the hearing to map out ways to harness small-scale hydropower generation in the western U.S. and exploit a renewable energy source that is largely untapped.
