Purdue, King End Spat Over Less Addictive Painkillers

Law360, New York (July 26, 2010, 2:47 PM EDT) -- With a trial looming, OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma LP and Embeda maker King Pharmaceuticals Inc. have settled a declaratory judgment suit over two Purdue patents for tamper-resistant painkiller formulations.

Counsel for the parties advised Judge James P. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia on Friday that they had resolved the case and would be providing the court with a settlement order.

As a result, a pretrial conference scheduled for Tuesday and a jury trial scheduled for Aug. 18 were canceled....
