E.U. Gets Tough On Environmental Crimes

Law360, New York (February 9, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission proposed new rules on Friday that, if approved, will establish minimum sanctions for people and companies that commit environmental crimes.

Crimes covered under the proposal include the release of hazardous substances into the air, water or soil, the illegal shipment of waste, the illegal trade of endangered species, and the harming of protected plants.
