Nufarm To Sell Assets To Settle FTC Merger Worries

Law360, New York (July 28, 2010, 3:44 PM EDT) -- Two years after buying rival chemical company A.H. Marks Holding Ltd., Nufarm Ltd. has agreed to sell some assets and revise its business agreements with two competitors to settle the Federal Trade Commission's claims that the deal gave the Australian company U.S. monopolies on two herbicides.

The U.S. competition watchdog voted 4-0 to approve the proposed settlement Wednesday, in a move that will force Nufarm to sell the rights and related assets for two of its herbicides to its competitors.
