Senate Sends Tariff Relief Bill To White House

Law360, New York (July 28, 2010, 5:54 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate has passed a bill to reinstate the suspension of tariffs on hundreds of products that are unavailable domestically, sending the measure to President Barack Obama to sign.

The Senate passed the bill Tuesday evening by unanimous consent. An identical version was voted out of the U.S. House of Representatives on July 21 with a 378-43 vote.

The Miscellaneous Tariff Bill reinstates hundreds of duty suspensions that expired Dec. 31. It is aimed at increasing U.S. production by lowering its cost.
