Enviros Chastise EPA Over Emissions Inventory

Law360, New York (July 29, 2010, 12:42 PM EDT) -- The Center for Biological Diversity has petitioned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to include emissions from the burning of trees and other wood products in its calculations of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.

The EPA wrongfully assumed in its annual inventory of greenhouse gas emissions that biomass fuels are "carbon neutral," causing no net addition of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the CBD said in a petition filed with the EPA on Wednesday.
