Class Action Over Allstate Firings Gets New Chance

Law360, New York (July 30, 2010, 3:57 PM EDT) -- A federal court has given another chance to a nine-year-old employment class action against Allstate Insurance Co., allowing a group of insurance agents who claim they were forced out in favor of younger staff to amend their complaint.

The late-stage amendment will effectively take the long-running case back to “early pretrial stages,” but the plaintiffs must be allowed to amend for fairness' sake, Judge Ronald Buckwalter of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said in a ruling Wednesday.
