CSX Sues US For $2.2M In Cleanup Costs

Law360, New York (August 3, 2010, 12:18 PM EDT) -- CSX Transportation Inc. has filed a new complaint against the federal government, seeking over $2.2 million to cover remediation costs for a Jacksonville, Fla. waste site where the U.S. Air Force dumped oil 50 years ago.

The railway network operator lodged the complaint Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, seeking a declaration that the U.S. is liable for past and future response costs at the site under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.
