US Identifies Iranian-Controlled Entities To Avoid

Law360, New York (August 3, 2010, 6:36 PM EDT) -- Stepping up efforts to impose tough sanctions on Iran, the U.S. on Tuesday identified nearly two dozen entities owned or controlled by the Iranian government in order to allow U.S. companies to more easily avoid prohibited transactions.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury identified 21 entities in Iran's banking, investment, insurance, mining and engineering industries that are owned or controlled by the government of Iran, noting that the list is meant to facilitate the identification of Iranian government entities for U.S. companies and individuals.
