Microsoft, Salesforce Settle Cloud Computing IP Spat

Law360, New York (August 4, 2010, 6:18 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday announced a settlement establishing licensing agreements with software sales company Salesforce.com Inc., resolving two federal lawsuits over patents for cloud computing technology.

While details of the deal were kept under wraps, Salesforce will purportedly receive broad coverage under Microsoft’s patent portfolio, while Microsoft stands to receive similar coverage under Salesforce’s portfolio, Microsoft said in a statement Wednesday.

The software giant also indicated that it will be compensated by Salesforce but did not offer specific figures.
