Obama Highlights Trade, EFCA In AFL-CIO Speech

Law360, New York (August 4, 2010, 4:58 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama reinforced his commitment to strengthen the American economy at an AFL-CIO meeting Wednesday, saying his administration is enforcing trade laws — some for the first time — and is still lobbying for the passage of the Employee Free Choice Act.

The act, which is stalled in Congress, would guarantee that workers who choose collective bargaining are able to achieve a contract and would allow employees to form unions by signing cards authorizing union representation, according to the AFL-CIO.
