US Targets DTE Energy Over Power Plant Upgrade

Law360, New York (August 9, 2010, 2:45 PM EDT) -- The U.S. government has alleged that gas and electric provider DTE Energy Co. modified a coal-fired power plant in Michigan without the proper permit and failed to install the best technology to control pollution at the facility, seeking a preliminary injunction against the utility.

The government filed suit Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, claiming that changes made to the plant in Monroe County, Mich., southwest of Detroit violate the Clean Air Act.
